Social Media and Sandals Montego Bay

Sandals Montego Bay

A few weeks ago, my husband and I vacationed in Montego Bay, Jamaica. This was the second year we visited the island. Last year, we were supposed to go to Puerto Rico, but the hurricane derailed our plans. It was our goal to stay at a Sandals resort, simply because we were told they are the best. However, with only a few months until our trip, the only place we could secure was the Sandals Inn. It was nice, but nothing compared to Sandals Montego Bay, which is where we stayed this year.

You might wonder what it’s like to stay at Sandals Montego Bay. You might also wonder why I’m writing about this on my blog. So, here it goes.

Sandals Montego Bay: The Skinny

I’ll spare you all the features you’ll see on their website. I can assure that everything is the real deal. Here are some of the best perks at Sandals Montego Bay, besides it being one of the most scenic locations to chill and play games.

Everything is included. The food, the drink, the entertainment – everything. And, it’s not bootleg stuff, either. I stayed at a Breezes all-inclusive resort and can assure you there is a huge difference in the availability and quality of the food and beverages. Sandals really is an all-inclusive resort and that also means the water sports and activities.

The beach is private – and it’s gorgeous. The beach is the most beautiful scene I’ve ever witnessed. It’s truly clear water and white sand. If you don’t believe me, check out this clip from our trip.  Moreover, you can relax with ease knowing that off-site vendors are not permitted on the beach.

The property is paradise. The beach is stunning – and so is the property. There are several hot tubs, pools, restaurants and just cool stuff. From the cats that wander the property (couldn’t help myself) to the parrot strategically placed in the quiet, it’s one-of-a-kind.

The rooms are heaven. The tranquility soaking tub, the walk-in shower, the plush king bed, the fully stocked bar and the eat-in balcony with pristine views of the property… what’s not to love? It’s even better with butler service! 🙂

The weather is insanely perfect. When we left the states, it was 10 degrees with a -2 windchill and snowing. In fact, we were late taking off because they had to de-ice the plane. When we arrived in Montego Bay, it was 82 degrees and sunny. It’s a parallel universe!

You can visit other resorts. If you get the itch to see what the other resorts offer, just hop on the shuttle and head over to the Inn or Sandals Royal Caribbean. The Inn is nothing to call home about. But, Royal Caribbean has some cool and different stuff. We enjoyed an evening on their private island including a boat ride to the island and dinner at Royal Thai.

Based on what I’ve written here, you’ve probably gathered that I loved the resort. In fact, we booked to go back for two more consecutive years! If I had any complaint, it’s how Sandals prefers to market their resorts. They have photographers all over the property snapping photos to try to get you to buy them from their resort shop. (We actually did buy some shots). But, when I asked if he could snap a photo with my phone, the photographer was concerned he would get into trouble. I explained that I would share the photo and tag the resort. This user-generated content should be a huge win for them. He took the picture, reluctantly. I understand the need to make a buck, but this approach is just short-sighted. They are missing an opportunity to have their customers market for them. #justsaying

Who Cares and So What?

As my college professor used to say that every written piece must answer the questions, ‘who cares’ and ‘so what.’ If you’ve read this much, you are curious about staying at the resort. But, why am I taking the time to share it on my blog?

Simply put, Sandals is one of the few businesses that align with our company core values. Here are some examples that illustrate their alignment with our values.

Customer Service & Relationships. The update below says it all! We requested Chevy as our butler next year – and we’re Facebook friends so we can stay in touch, until we meet again!

Commitment to Excellence. There aren’t enough words – or even pictures - to showcase how this resort dedicates itself to ‘the best.’ But, I will say, this tub is beyond words!

Communication. The day before we left, a Sandals employee saw us in the hallway and told us they had a new restaurant opening on the property the next day. They asked if we had any interest in dining for the opening day. Sadly, we had to be at the airport, but it was really cool that they let us know and gave their current guests first dibs. Below is a photo of the restaurant (Nathan took it a few days before – they work fast!).

Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a trip on a budget, Sandals Montego Bay might not be the place for you. But, if you’re looking for a week that could change your life, it’s worth every penny. And, you might even meet some new friends! Ya Mon!
