Did you know? The word of the year in 2020 was “pandemic.” And the pandemic was the topic of my top blog post in 2020. According to OxfordLanguages, “vax” is the word of the year for 2021. Indeed, it’s clear that COVID-19 has changed our lives forever.
This year, I didn’t let the pandemic stop me from taking a much-needed vacation. I wasn’t without struggle, however. The last few days of my vacation were filled with scary news about my family, which affected the rest of my year. These personal events empowered me to do what I do best…write. No matter how your year turned out, you may find my words relatable.
2021’s Top Three #Strella Blog Posts
Persistent and evolving, COVID and another prominent health topic influenced which blog posts attracted readers. Here’s a countdown of the top three #Strella blog posts in 2021.
#3: Vacation Is On, Despite the Pandemic – My husband and I take an annual vacation to Jamaica in the winter. The pandemic vastly changed the way we travel — and many still prefer to avoid it. In my post, I share the realities of traveling now and why we decided to go — no matter what.
#2: A Note of Thanks During Tumultuous Times – This year has been trying for me. I experienced a trifecta of unfortunate events this spring, but I was grateful for the support I received from the people around me.
#1: The Other Side of the Opioid Epidemic – I am not one to shy away from controversy, especially when it affects people I care about. Despite how personal this topic is to me, I crafted an informative and well-researched piece. I invite you to view the opioid crisis through a different lens.
But Wait, There’s More!
While the posts mentioned above were my top performers this past year, credit should also go to two previously written posts that continue to drive the most traffic to my site.
Fan Favorite: Pixsy’s “Unauthorized Use” Claim Would “Break the Internet” – Written in 2019, this post drives hundreds of hits each week. Unscrupulous copyright trolls continue to extort small business owners with frivolous — even ridiculous — claims. Don’t let them get away with it!
Top Post of All Time: The Accident That Changed My Life Forever – This very personal post continues to rank as the top post on my site after nearly 10 years. If you haven’t heard my story and you’re curious, I invite you to check it out.
Looking Ahead to 2022
It appears that authenticity, controversy, and humanity drive readership. I plan to continue to weave my experiences into my blog posts in 2022 and beyond.
I wonder… What will be the word of the year 2022? Any guesses?
