To offer some insight on these questions, we’ve asked a client who is approaching one year of service with Strella Social Media. Here’s an interview with Mimi Reeves, owner of Balloons and More in Lemoyne, PA. Be sure to “like” their Facebook fan page and follow them on Twitter.
Weddings bring you a significant amount of business. I’ve heard some people, in that industry, say that social media isn’t an ideal way to market. What is your take on this?
It all depends on how a person uses social media. Every service will have different results. Social media is a way to stay connected to a bride that is already a client. Staying connected keeps the business name in front of her. She may refer us to others more quickly, she’ll be aware of our new products and services and she’ll be kept up-to-date on what we are doing. Social media is also a great way to become connected with referring partners.
What made you decide to hire a social media manager? What qualities were you looking for?
I was aware that social media was used by many of my clients. Having a social media manager frees up my time and guarantees that the posts are completed. With my schedule, posting would not be done consistently and consistency is necessary for social media to be effective. When looking for a social media manager, I wanted someone that I could trust, who was staying up-to-date with the industry, and would do what they told me they would do.
How as social media impacted your business?
It has helped in making contacts that have become referring partners. My clients and followers are kept up to date with what is going on at Balloons and More. Social media has helped to keep my name in front of people.
How have you been able to blend traditional marketing with online marketing?
Through online marketing we are able to “remind” customers of specials or events that, previously, they would have received through a direct mail. Also, we use social media cards (like business cards) to drive people to our website and the Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter pages.
If you are considering using a social media manager, ask for references. Find out what their current clients have to say about the service they receive. Social media may not bring you instant sales. As with anything, it takes some time and effort. Strella Social Media follows through with what they say they are going to do and they complete projects in a timely manner.
