Hear Me Out: How Brands Are Turning Influencers Into Walking Billboards

influencers

Imagine if a brand invited you to attend Coachella, one of the biggest, most iconic, and lucrative music festivals in the U.S., offering to cover all your expenses—ticket, travel, and accommodations. But there’s a catch—they require you to wear only their clothing or promote their products while there. Would you accept, even if you're not familiar with or don't fully support the brand?

Every year, brands send influencers and celebrities to Coachella to post images and vlogs that elevate awareness, increase followers, and boost sales. Brands rent large luxurious houses for their guests to stay in, host events for them, and supply them with lots of promotional swag.

Here’s a list of a few of the MANY brands that sent people to Coachella in 2025:

  • GUESS
  • Revolve
  • Lemme
  • JSX
  • Hero
  • Urban Decay
  • Kylie Jenner’s 818 Tequila
  • Hailey Bieber’s Rhode

Simply Irresistible

While it may seem tone-deaf to send wealthy influencers to an expensive music festival where over 50% of general admission attendees had to use a payment plan just to afford their tickets, there’s something undeniably captivating about influencers’ vlogs—year after year, they’re impossible to look away from.

And influencers chomp at the bit for an invitation to participate. Tara Lynn, also known as “Tara’s World,” was one influencer who took to TikTok to tell everyone she had not yet been sponsored to go to Coachella. She begged for a brand to send her. In her TikTok video, she stated that she knew that she was sounding like a whiny influencer and continued with an explanation, “If you had a job where you could get free tickets to things, free accommodations, you would want that too!”

She’s not lying. Who wouldn’t want to reap the benefits?

From private parties to VIP shuttles, Week 1 of Coachella has become less about the music and more about who’s wearing what and which brand is sponsoring you. Influencers have taken center stage—not just to pose for the perfect desert sunset shot, but also to represent the brands that flew them there and dressed them head to toe.

On TikTok, it’s known as “The Influencer Olympics,” and the competition is fierce. Who had the best outfit? Who had the best vlogs? And most importantly—who could wear the most belts?

Influencers aren't just attending Coachella—they are full-out brand marketing campaigns. From logos strategically placed on their tops to color-coded looks screaming, “This is sponsored!”—brands have effectively turned these creators into walking, talking billboards.

In 2025, it’s no longer enough to show up to Coachella. You have to show up on-brand.
