The pandemic dominated conversations in 2020 and 2021. As I reflect on my top three blog posts of 2022, two of them are related to the mental health issues my mother experienced this past year. I firmly believe the pandemic triggered the decline in her health. Does that mean we are still feeling the ripple effects of COVID-19? Will it ever end? I suppose only time will tell as we look back years from now to re-trace the events that occurred during these tumultuous times.
2022’s Three Most Popular #Strella Blog Posts
#3: No One Cause or Simple Solution Exists for the Mental Health Crisis – A perfect storm of factors led to the prevalent mental health crisis of the past year. This post was a compilation of research, interviews with professionals, and personal experiences to help answer the question, “Why does this problem exist?”
#2: “Mental Health” Is All the Buzz. Why Can’t We Get Help? – This post revealed my personal journey as I navigated my mother’s mental health issues. It was the first post in a series discussing the heartbreaking reality of the current climate in health care.
#1: 5 Cringe-Worthy Phrases to Stop Saying Immediately – Every year, one post that makes the top spot surprises me. This year was no exception, as this post earned the distinction of Number One. Maybe the image of the cat had something to do with it! 🙂 Regardless, I still cringe when I hear the five phrases!
Prevailing Frontrunners
I would be remiss not to mention the two posts from past years that continue to drive the most traffic to my site. And I have a fresh update on the first one!
Fan Favorite: Pixsy’s “Unauthorized Use” Claim Would “Break the Internet” – This post from 2019 attracts hundreds of new hits every week. It discusses how malevolent trolls use frivolous claims of copyright infringement to extort hard-earned money from small business owners.
Update: In July, I received a letter from a lawyer asking me to remove this blog post because it was causing “distress” to Pixsy’s business. I consulted with my lawyer, and we agreed that the request was nothing I needed to act on. For the record, I received NINE emails with the request.
Top Post of All Time: The Accident That Changed My Life Forever – This post remains my top-ranking piece after over a decade. It’s a very personal account of a life-changing incident and the struggle that followed. Please check it out if you haven’t read it before.
What to Expect in 2023
I plan to update you on my mother’s health next year. Also, I will continue my new practice of focusing on a weekly theme or topic that aligns my blog posts and social media. As always, I promise to be genuine and thorough. If you have ideas for what I should talk about in the new year, I welcome them. Feel free to share them in the comments!
