Inspired by WIRED’s Autocomplete Interviews, I was curious to see what people most frequently google about Canva. To the surprise of no one, most searches are about Canva’s pricing. While the best place to get info about the cost of Canva is the Canva website (since they are constantly changing prices), I’m happy to answer some other commonly asked questions people have about the platform.
FAQs About Canva
Is Canva Pro Worth It?
Yes—although it depends on what you use it for. From a business standpoint, it’s relatively affordable. So if you’re using it daily as a freelance creative, a brand marketer, or business owner, I highly recommend it. With the Pro version, you get access to the features Canva is most known for, like the Background Remover tool and first-class templates. You also get lesser-known features like the robust media library, which contains high-quality photos, videos, icons, and even music. Pro allows you to use much of the media commercially in marketing, advertising, and social media with Canva’s “Licensing Made Easy” feature, which eliminates the hassle and worry over buying a license for individual design elements.
Is Canva Down?
Even the most powerful websites can experience technical issues. So, yes, Canva sometimes runs into bugs. I recommend using this site to find out if a problem you’re encountering is related to Canva being down.
Can Canva Be Used for Commercial Use?
Yes, with the paid versions. As I mentioned above, with Canva Pro, you can use the majority of Canva’s stock media commercially—even to sell merchandise with your designs on it. Just be cautious when using audio from Canva’s library in your projects. Always make sure it says “Commercial Use Allowed.” Some music on their audio tab is labeled “Popular Music,” which is only for personal use.
Can Canva Generate QR codes?
Indeed it can! And that’s really useful, especially for small businesses wanting QR codes to reflect their branding. Canva even allows you to fully customize the colors and margin sizes of your QR code. I recommend taking a few minutes to learn more about Canva’s QR Code Generator!
Does Canva Support SVG?
Yes. Canva allows importing and exporting SVG files. When importing, make sure your SVG is under 3MB. If bringing in logos or icons from other software, I highly advise using SVGs so you can easily change designs’ colors in Canva. Most people think the SVG format’s greatest feature is high-quality scaling, but I find the ability to easily change a design’s colors to my saved colors in Canva is the most significant benefit.
Does Canva Automatically Save?
It does, but be careful. Make sure the cloud icon in the top left corner shows a cloud with a check mark, not a cloud with dots. The dots mean a design hasn’t been saved, which can happen when internet connectivity issues occur.
