Target Your Ideal Client on LinkedIn

Yesterday, I shared 3 Technical Tips for LinkedIn. Today, I wanted to offer some tools for targeting your ideal client on LinkedIn.

Did you know? You can use the Advanced Search tool to target your ideal client. Here’s how:

  • Log into LinkedIn account
  • Go to the top, right-hand corner of the screen (where you can search for people)
  • To the right of the “Search” is a magnifying glass – select that blue button that reads “Advanced”
  • Enter the parameters of your search. They can include:
    • Keywords
    • Names
    • Location (by adding zip code and entering how many miles within that location)
    • Industries
  • Sample search terms for someone looking for local lawyers:
    • Keyword: legal or lawyer
    • Postal code: 17110
    • Within: 25 miles
  • Select “Search” and start connecting

Did you know?  You connect with your ideal client without entering an email address! Here’s how!

  • Log into LinkedIn account
  • Select the “Groups” button from the options listed horizontally across the top of the screen
  • Go to one of your groups and select “Members”
  • A search bar will appear on the left-hand side of the screen
  • Enter a search term/keyword (for example: insurance) and select the “Search” button
  • A list will be appear which will list individual who use that keyword in their profile
  • This allows you to connect with someone from that list without having to enter an email address. You can instead select “Groups” as the way to associate with that person.

Did you know?  You can build credibility and position yourself as an expert to your ideal client! Here’s how!

  • Log  into LinkedIn account
  • Select the “More” button from the options listed horizontally across the top of the screen
  • Select “Answers” from that dropdown screen
  • Within that screen, enter a keyword at the top right-hand side and start searching or select “Advanced Answers Search” and add keywords and categories and select “Search” (Keywords include descriptors of your target audience)
  • You’ve got the knowledge (aka – solution to their question)! Start answering!
